Common ninebark is a shrub that typically occurs on rocky, gravelly or sandy banks of lakes and streams. It tends to grow on well-drained soil though it may be near the water table. It has attractive leaves and rounded, flower clusters. If given enough room, it can become quite large, with long arching branches.
